SCE is proud to announce the GRAND OPENING of Turtle Back Zoo’s Pre-Historic Themed Playground! SCE’s Vice President and Landscape Architect, Joseph D. Perello, who’s vision brought this new facility to reality, joined Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr., Investors Bank President and CEO Kevin Cummings, and several County Freeholders and Directors at the ribbon cutting ceremony on July 31, 2013, which opened the new playground to the public.
SCE was selected by the County of Essex to design unique and innovative pre-historic themed playground structures that are both safe and appropriate for children of different age groups. SCE also designed an archeological inspired fossil dig feature that enables playground enthusiasts to participate in their own fossil exploration adventure. Cooperative play was already seen at the sabre-tooth head slide and the dino climber/crawl structure that’s included in the new playground. As part of the project, SCE developed the overall theme and created opportunities to provide an exciting park as well as educational opportunities for the potential facility users at Turtle Back Zoo.
Congratulations to the SCE Design Team who spent limited days and countless hours developing several concept plans and details of site specific playground equipment that establish the new playground facility at Turtle Back Zoo as a “Destination Playground” that will entertain and educate many future generations of Zoo visitors. The creation of this playground has amplified visitor attraction, which will only lead to more gratifying experiences at the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this success story possible! Excellent job team!
