DESCRIPTION: The Lake Tranquility Dam is a Class I dam and is located on Trout Brook a FW2-NTC1 stream located in the Highlands Planning Area. Design included replacement of existing single-lane bridge with a two-lane, weathered steel, arch truss bridge. Included partial demolition and reconstruction of existing abutments, replacement of emergency drawdown sluce gate which required a steel sheet pile cofferdam with bypass control and pumping, vertical and horizontal realignment of roadway, and design of wing walls, scour protection concrete and steel sheet piling cut off walls, and roadway stabilization.

DATES OF SERVICES: 2007 -2008
DESCRIPTION: The Old Morris Canal Dam consists of a granite block spillway across the Rockaway River that is flanked by concrete and stone training walls. The project consisted of a hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of the dam’s drainage basin and an assessment of the existing dam structure. SCE then designed grouted riprap overtopping protection for the shoreline above the spillway training walls to provide erosion protection for the 100 year storm event. Additionally, repairs to the stone and concrete training walls and riprap slope protection for the downstream channel were designed by SCE.

SCE coordinated the design submission and final approval of the project with NJDOT. Additional improvements associated with the intersection included analysis and design of drainage infrastructure, roadway guiderail, grading and wall design. Coordination for the relocation of utilities was a significant obstacle during the preconstruction phase of this project. The project was constructed in 2009.
